Stage 42 Rules
Stage 42 is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all theater-fans and guests. To make the most of your visit to Stage 42 by reading and following the policies and rules below. Failure to abide by the rules may lead to guests being expelled from the venue. Rules and policies may be slightly different for specific shows, so please check your show or event program guide or description for details. As part of its commitment to ensuring that everyone can enjoy high-quality theatre, Stage 42 is wheelchair accessible and offers the following Accessibility Accommodations
Shubert Audience Services
Stage 42 provides infrared assistive listening devices for every performance. Also, four weeks after a show’s official opening night performance, hand-held audio description devices and captioning devices will be available. There will also be access to downloadable audio descriptions and/or captioning for personal mobile devices, free of charge. Please be aware that devices have limited availability, but additional devices can be obtained if you request them at least 24 hours ahead of your ticketed show start time. Accessibility by Seating Section
Orchestra Location: There are steps between each row. Wheelchair seating does not involve steps.
Handrails: Available at the end of every stepped seat row in the Orchestra.

Elevators/Escalator
The theater has an elevator and an escalator that takes guests from the ground level to the theater level. -
Restroom
Restrooms are wheelchair accessible on the ground level.
Arrival Policy
Arriving late may result in guests being asked to wait in the lobby until a designated break period. To avoid frustration, Stage 42 recommends that you arrive no later than 30 minutes before a ticketed event to make sure you have plenty of time to find parking and get to your seat.
Bag Policy
Event staff reserves the right to inspect any bags for inspection. Guests have the right to refuse searches and event staff reserve the right to deny entry. Prohibited items that are not illegal may be returned to a guest’s vehicle or disposed of before entry.
Children Policy
All guests to Stage 42 shows must have their ticket. This includes younger children unless otherwise noted in the event description or program.
Some shows or events may not be appropriate for younger children. Please refer to the event description or program guide for help in selecting the right events for your family. Please refer to the event description regarding whether younger children require their tickets. If you are not certain, you may call 212-239-6200 for help.
If your child is disruptive during an event or show, they and their accompanying parent or guardian may be asked to wait in the lobby.
Food Policy
Outside food and drink are not allowed in the theater for most events and shows. Refreshments are available before the show opens and during intermission. If a show has a different policy, it will be explained in the program guide or description.
Lost and Found Policy
Lost an item at an event? You can ask event staff for help with finding the lost and found service. You can also call 212-239-6200 after the show. Please be prepared to leave your full name, contact information, and a detailed description of your lost item. Stage 42 does not claim responsibility for your lost possessions.
Prohibited Items
Stage 42 restricts certain items within the theater in the interests of safety and to preserve the atmosphere of enjoyment for other guests. While some events may vary, the following is relevant to most productions. Please contact Stage 42 at 212-239-6200 if you have any questions or refer to your ticketed event description and program.
- Backpacks may be subject to search by event staff
- Outside drinks, coolers, cans, cups, bottles, and beverages
- Knives, guns, and any type of weapons or explosives
- Professional cameras and recording equipment of any kind
- Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles
- Laser pointers
- Noisemakers, whistles and air horns
- Illegal drugs or substances
- Animals (except service animals)
- Cigarettes, vapes, or other smoking paraphernalia may not be used within the venue or 20ft of entrances. Please call 212-239-6200 to ask about designated smoking areas.
- Personal property or clothing that is a potential hazard to others (e.g. chains, wallet chains or jewelry with spiked edges)
- Signs, clothing, or posters featuring offensive imagery or text
